Club Taco is located at 175/1, km 13 Bangna-Trad Road, Moo 12, Bangplee-Yai. The easiest way to get there is by driving down the Bangna-Trad Highway (direction Chonburi). After passing the exit to the new Airport, you continue about 2 km and take the next U-Turn. After passing Panasonic and the Green Valley Golf Course, you will see a large pile of container on the left side. After passing the container and a fly-over, turn left at the next soi. Make sure you don’t miss this small soi, otherwise you will regret it…. around 200 m inside the soi you will see a small entrance gate to soi on the right, marked with the a water ski sign. From there just follow directions to the lake.
Club Taco is open from 10.00 am till dawn on weekends and 11.00 till dawn on weekdays. Entrance fee is 200 Baht for 1 hour or 300 Baht for 2 hours. Anual membership is also available. The entrance fee allows free use of water-ski and knee-boards or windsurf boards. Wakeboards are available for rent: 100 Baht for boards with boot bindings or 50 Baht for boards with strap bindings.
A nice restaurant right next to the lake provides Thai food and refreshments.

If you don’t have a car, is Club Taco easy to get to? And how would I get there (ie. bus info, etc). Also, what kind of rails/sliders do you have?
I am going to be in Thailand in March-April and am thinking about doing some wakeboarding at the cable park.

Hi Marisa,
it’s not too difficult getting a taxi to Club Taco, just follow the instructions in the Club Taco posting.
Regarding your second question, there is one slider and 2 ramps.

I’ll be in Bangkok on a business trip from April 3 – 7th. How easy is it for beginners and do I need to book an appointment?

Hi ,
could you tell me of any summer wakeboarding events that are occuring within the next two months, preferrably around the end of July and August, along with general information about the event, age groups of participants for the event, prices, dates of which the event occurs and any other extra pieces of information you find suitable.
Thanks!

I am not aware of any wakeboarding related events this summer.

I’ve been considering going to the Bangkok cable ski park, but didn’t realize it was so far out on Bangna Trat. I’ve been to the Phuket cable ski park in Kathu a few times which is pretty laid back and seems better than the Bangkok in that wakeboards are communal and provided in the cost, though I believe Phuket has double pricing standards as there is a lot of tourists there. Are the prices you mentioned flat rate or do residents/Thais get different rates?
I presume it’s flat rate with the exception of the membership fee you mentioned??? How crowded is the Bangkok park on weekends? Long queues? In contrast, the Phuket park may have 3 to 4 boarders in queue at any given moment when I was there, how about taco?
cheers

Hi Jao,
the good thing about Club Taco is, that they have no double pricing policy, only 1 price for all…!
Basic equipment is free (knee boards, water ski and old wakeboards, there is a rental fee of 100.- THB for better boards with bindings).
During weekends is can get a bit crowded, but if you arrive early,
around 10.00 am, there will be no que.

Thanks a lot for the green light. Will try to convince my bkk friends to go with me sometime soon to make the taxi worth it. One of my Phuket friends who had been to bkk park claimed that he got real sick after going to the Bangkok park. He claimed it might have been caused from his wipeouts and taking a few mouth-fulls, though any lake water can make you sick, he believes that the bangkok park is particularly contaminated? Any surrounding factories or anything that might make him think such???

Hi Jao,
the water quality of Lake Taco is definitely OK, I spent every weekend wakeboarding with my family, since 1 year and we never had problems after swallowing the lake water.
And I never heard of any problems from other guys.
So don’t worry about the water.

Hello!
I will come to Bangkok in January (2008) and would like to visit Lake Taco and wakeboard. I don’t have plans for renting a car from Bangkok till there so can you tell me how much is approximatel a taxi ride?
And another thing – I’m planning to buy life vest and wetsuit while I’m in Bangkok – can you recommend me any shops?
Your answer would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Using internet is simple as hell. But I can tell y ou right now, it can be very hard, if you are the first time user.
So, first thing I suggest – open the Explorer, and type in the address you like.
You’ll get there really fast, it depends on your connection speed.
Good luck.
